Humour-Net

Julane Marx is the editor of Humour-Net; her preferred title is "Humour-Nette." Julane was born in Ohio but moved to Los Angeles at age two and still lives there. She didn't even go away to school (university); she has bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She has found that it is actually unnecessary to ever move away from Los Angeles; the city remains entertaining due to the constant self-reinvention of its inhabitants and the regular infusion of interesting new immigrant populations (with their respective cuisines and other art forms).

Julane is a marketing manager and is married to Jeff Gale, a business professor. They have one son, Brandon, who is of course brilliant, good-looking and (mostly) adorable. Brandon is 13 and just survived his bar mitzvah. Julane loves to read, both on her own and with her son (yes, we have read all of the Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Series of Unfortunate Events, Artemis Fowl and His Dark Materials books).

Humour-Net began in October of 1995 as a sort of team-building exercise at Learning Tree International, where Julane used to work. When Julane left Learning Tree in 1998 to "pursue other opportunities," she found that she sorely missed doing Humour-Net, so with the help of Humour-Net Hero Carl Wagar, she has now made it a subscribable web-based service.
